Post Details and Number of Vacancies

This year, Indian Railways is offering a total of 8,113 vacancies under NTPC (Graduate Level). These posts are available in different departments across the country.

Here are the main posts and their expected vacancies:

  • Goods Guard / Train Manager – 3,144 posts
  • Chief Ticket Supervisor – 1,736 posts
  • Junior Accounts Assistant / Typist – 1,507 posts
  • Senior Clerk / Typist – 732 posts
  • Station Master – 944 posts

These are only projections and may vary once officially notified. These jobs are available in different zones like Northern Railway, Eastern Railway, South Central Railway, and others.

Selection Process

The selection process has multiple steps. Candidates must pass each stage to move to the next.

  1. CBT 1 (First Computer Test): All candidates must take this. It is the first stage.
  2. CBT 2 (Second Computer Test): Only candidates who pass CBT 1 will take this. It is more focused on the post you applied for.
  3. Typing Test / Skill Test: Only for posts like Clerk or Typist.
  4. Document Verification: To check certificates and eligibility.
  5. Medical Test: To make sure you are fit for railway duties.

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

The first stage (CBT 1) is the most important because it is the same for all candidates. It has 100 questions and is based on three subjects.

  • General Awareness – 40 questions
  • Mathematics – 30 questions
  • Reasoning and Logic – 30 questions
  • Total – 100 questions, 100 marks
  • Time – 90 minutes (2 hours for PwBD candidates)
  • Negative marking – 1/3 mark will be cut for each wrong answer

All questions are multiple choice (MCQs). The paper will be in English, Hindi, and regional languages depending on your choice.

CBT 2 and Other Rounds

Only those who pass CBT 1 will appear in CBT 2. The second test is also computer-based but has different questions based on the post (like Station Master or Accounts Assistant). After CBT 2, skill tests are conducted for certain posts.

The final selection is based on marks in CBT 2, plus performance in typing/aptitude tests, and medical fitness.

Preparation Tips for Last Few Days

If your exam is in the next few days, here are some practical tips:

  • Revise important topics from all three sections
  • Practice full mock tests at the same time as your exam shift
  • Focus more on accuracy than speed to avoid losing marks
  • Do not try to study new chapters at the last minute
  • Arrange your admit card, ID, and documents in advance
  • Sleep on time and eat light before the exam

What Happens After CBT 1

After CBT 1, the results will be declared by the RRB. If you clear it, you will be called for CBT 2, probably between August and September 2025. Final appointments will be given after the document and medical checks.

RRB NTPC 2025 is a great opportunity to get a stable job in Indian Railways. If you are well-prepared and follow all the instructions carefully, you can succeed. Stay updated with your RRB region’s website and check for updates regularly.
